According to a recent Engadget article, Senator Carl Kruger of New York is set to introduce legislation that would ban the use of MP3 players, cellphones, and any other electronic device while crossing the street in New York City or other “big cities” in the state.
The bill comes in response to two recent pedestrian deaths where at least one (??) is said to be caused by the person listening to their iPod.
Aside from the fact that I can’t see how this bill would ever pass or be remotely enforceable, do we really need to ban EVERYONE from these activities? Why punish all of us because some people are dumb enough to walk into traffic without looking both ways or being remotely aware of their surroundings?
