How's The Knee?
This is definitely the question I get most often from friends, family, co-workers, etc any time a conversation starts up. (It's a great small talk opener.) Probably also my least favorite question right now just based upon how things are going. A friend of mine asked me this via email and I just let it all out. Thought I'd post my response...
Really not too happy right now to be honest. I actually thought with some of the limited dancing I did Saturday night that I may have screwed it up again. My physical therapist checked it on Monday and said I definitely didn't tear the ACL again or anything serious but she did say it seemed a little "loose" compared to my good knee. Although she had never checked it before for a baseline, definitely not what you want to hear post op. I have some tendonitis too which is hampering therapy and seems to be slowing down the process. My therapist is great and she says I am doing just fine but it seems like things are progressing so slowly. So if you're curious as to how the knee is doing, still feel free to ask. Just be ready for a (personally therapeutic) lengthy diatribe.
I see the doctor again in early November. During the last check-up he described it as "rock solid" so we'll see next time. If "loose" and my "knee" appear in the same sentence four months from now, we're shopping for a brace. :(
Of course, I could be asking way too much of my body right now. Therapy and rehab is so different this time from last, I really don't know what to expect.
Enough of a breakdown from you?
