Summer Vacation

Monday, June 16th, 2008

Sometimes I really love all of the opportunities the Internet gives me to interact with my friends and family without exerting too much effort. Blogs, Facebook, Twitter and Flickr all allow me to communicate with a number of people that I don’t get to see or speak to directly all that often.

However sometimes all of the information generated by those wonderful tools overwhelms me. Lately, the noise has become a little too loud and I need a bit of a break. I’m considering it a summer vacation of sorts. So for the next month or two, no blog posts, no twitter and significantly reduced Facebook/Flickr time.

If you’d like to catch up with me, let’s do it the old fashioned way… via email.

Redesign

Monday, June 9th, 2008

After three years, dascentral.com has been redesigned! Woo-hoo!

The transfer to a new hosting provider is complete and I finally found time to take the advice I give clients nearly every day by installing a content management system. (Drupal) Not that there is a ton of content to manage here but small tweaks are still much easier to make via a CMS then by firing up an FTP application.

Note that this blog is still managed via blogger.com so that skin hasn’t changed but hopefully I’ll find some time to import my posts soon.

3 Minutes…

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

…is how long it takes me to get out of DC from my new job in Georgetown. Tack on another 12 min drive through VA and I’m home in 15 mins. Makes my commute so much less of a hassle.

With my company looking for new office space elsewhere in the city, it will be interesting to see where we end up and what my commute looks like at that point.

Would I consider moving into DC if it puts me back in the 40 min ballpark? Yeah, I think I would.
